The Asset Building Coalition of Forsyth County, North Carolina

The Asset Building Coalition of Forsyth County, North Carolina

The Asset Building Coalition builds awareness about asset poverty and its significant impact on individuals, families, and our community. They promote coordinated strategies for everyone to build asset wealth for a more resilient Forsyth County.

Forsyth Futures provides data and research support across three key areas: the benefits cliff work, livable wages research, and data dashboards. The project originated with ABC around 2010 and became operationally active in 2017. Forsyth Futures formalized its partnership support around 2019-2020, creating critical infrastructure for our community to better use data related to community programming and its impact on student outcomes.

Data Sharing Project (DSP)

The Data Sharing Project is a community initiative operating under Forsyth Futures in partnership with Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and United Way of Forsyth County. DSP provides data access, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement support to community agencies and schools working to improve outcomes for students in Forsyth County.

Through a unique partnership with WS/FCS, DSP connects community programs to school district data — enabling more targeted, individualized student supports, strengthening program effectiveness, and documenting impact. DSP also works alongside partners to connect students and families to the right community-based supports at the right time — helping ensure no student falls through the cracks between school and the programs designed to serve them.

Over time, DSP’s work helps identify which strategies are most effective for students, and shares those findings across partner programs to align efforts and maximize community investment. DSP is also engaged with Forsyth Family Power and exploring broader research questions about community-wide service capacity and gaps, helping inform planning and strategy at a systems level.
